Wired/wireless network
Hope somebody can help me out. I have Comcast broadband. Am running the Comcast hub to a D-link DI-514. I have one computer and my Tivo successfully running out of this router, wired.
I'm trying to use this same router to get internet from a computer a couple of rooms over using a USB 802.11b utility (little card that plugs into the USB port). Exactly what do i need to do on my wireless computer and with configuring my router, etc. to get that wireless connection to work? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. |

You should have all you need with the USB wireless adapter. I'd consider turning off all the "turbo" functions on the D-Link router, since they frequently affect compatibility with 802.11b. Also, the antenna in tye typical USB thumb wireless adapter is pretty anemic, you might consider looking into a PCI card with a real antenna. You can also remove the PCI card antenna and replace it with a hi-gain antenna for more range.
