setting up a network

My parents want to set up two computers using a wireless router. One pc is running windows xp the other windows me is that ok and will i need a network card on both pc's.
Is it straight forward to set up and is there anything else that i will need to get.

You mention wireless router, and network cards. Are you connecting these machine wirelessly or wired? Note that at least one computer needs to connect hard wired to configure the router.

the intention is to set it up wireless.

You'll obviously need the router and a wireless adapter for each wireless client. Personally, I connect anything I can wired and reserve the wireless for portable machines. You'll have a much easier time getting wired connections working and keeping them working.
