No Network Hardware (or any other devices)

In device manager, no hardware types or items show? When I plug in the linksys card, the computer does nothing? When I plug in the linksys card in another laptop, windows recognizes the card and asks about installation.

Any Ideas? This is weird....

Dell Inspiron 1100 - Doesn't recognize the Linksys WPC54G card.

Old IBM thinkpad recognizes the card...

Has windows been re-installed on this unit? If so you also need to re-install all the Dell-supplied software and drivers specific to that unit. Besides the XP installation CD there are two Dell CD's. Also do you have the A31 bios or newer?

Don't know the complete history

Now when trying to expand on explorer the program stops responding. Hitting the + beside any folder locks it up......
