Roll Eyes workgroup computers network inside a network

Hello everyone

thank you all for any/all advice in advance :-)

I am using windows xp pro and home on my 2 computers going to a us robitics router off of that same router Another router(linksys) is hooked up with 2 computers behind it running windows 2k pro. the two computers can see each other wth in that group but can not see the computers on the us robotics router

the computers with 2k pro can see the workgroup but can not see the computers within it. The 2 xp machines can only see themselves

we have disabled the windows firewalls on the xp machines no change.
no other firewalls are installed.

I am not sure if we need to configure the router firewalls differently. or if it is something with xp/2k pro

thanks again for any advice
Derrick

How are the two routers hooked up together?

answer...

through a cat five cable ... the uplink port in the linksys and just a regular port in the us robotics

also all computers can get to the internet

It sounds like the NAT layer is in the way. If you must use two routers...

Connecting two SOHO broadband routers together.

Configure the IP address of the secondary router to be in the same subnet as the primary router, but out of the range of the DHCP server in the primary router. For instance DHCP server addresses 192.168.0.2 through 192.168.0.100, I'd assign the secondary router 192.168.0.254 as it's IP address.

Disable the DHCP server in the secondary router.

Setup the wireless section just the way you would if it was the primary router.

Connect from the primary router's LAN port to one of the LAN ports on the secondary router. If there is no uplink port and neither of the routers have auto-sensing ports, use a cross-over cable. Leave the WAN port unconnected!
