Problem with new Gigabit switch
We just switched out an older 100 MB switch for a new dell gigabit switch. The clients are Dells with gigabit cards. We have about 9 people in this office and 7 of them can connect fine at 1 Gb, the other 2 I keep getting an error that says this connection has limited or no connectivity. It says that it's connected, but we're not getting connected to the network...no IP address is being assigned and we can't ping anything. We've tried removing the NIC in device manager and letting it reinstall itself. we've checked all the cables...we even ran a cable directly from the PC to the switch, bypassing the in-house cabling. We turned off the switch for about 30 seconds to let the ARP cache clear itself out. We've tried different ports on the switch and different cables....still no luck. We've also checked all of the settings on the NIC and in TCP/IP to make sure they're identical to the systems that are getting connected. We also set the speed of the nic to 100 mb just in case there was a problem negotiating the gigabit connection, but that didn't work either.
Any ideas?? |
