Network printing problem

This thread is a revival of a previous thread, #44408, which is now expired (the board won't let me post a reply to that thread).

The earlier instructions did not work. Things are still physically connected according to the crude graphic I made above. In case it's important, the two routers are connected from one of the four LAN ports on the Linksys to the WAN port of the SMC.

The WAN settings on the Linksys are as follows:
* Automatic configuration - DHCP
* Gateway address: 192.168.0.1 (my DSL modem)

The LAN settings on the Linksys are as follows:
* IP address: 192.168.2.1
* IP subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
* DHCP server: enabled
- Start IP: 192.168.2.100
- End IP: 192.168.2.149

I have a static route configured on the Linksys as follows (per instructions earlier in this thread):
* Destination LAN IP: 192.168.3.0
* Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
* Default gateway: 192.168.2.2
* Interface: LAN & Wireless

The WAN settings on the SMC are as follows:
* Static IP address: 192.168.2.2
* Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
* Gateway address: 192.168.2.1

Tha LAN settings on the SMC are as follows:
* IP address: 192.168.3.1
* IP subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
* DHCP server: enabled
- Start IP: 192.168.3.2
- End IP: 192.168.3.40

TOOOooo many subnets!

The cheaper SOHO routers are not really good with routing to/through the WAN interface. Limited NAT and firewall options.

Make your Linksys the "main" router. Leave DHCP turned on and then connect your SMC router by a LAN port to the Linksys LAN port. Turn DHCP off on the SMC router and set the SMC web interface up on an address outside of the Linksys DHCP range, like 192.168.2.200.

Not sure how the SMC print server works, but if it needs an IP address for the printer, use a static address outside the Linksys DHCP range.

This way everything is really on a single subnet within a LAN enviroment.

This should get you going.
