Can't connect to LAN
I had a power outage a couple of weeks ago and now I can't connect to my LAN or the internet.
I have a router for a DHCP server, when I boot up I get a IP address and my lease is renewed. When I open open a browser nothing will open, not even the setup pages on the router. When I run winipcfg I can see my IP address, DNS address, ect.... but if I try to renew I get a error message that says "DHCP server unavailabe: Renewing adapter" In the Device manager every thing is working however I have unintalled and reinstalled the ethernet adapter several times. The original adapter is onboard. I have disabled it and installed a PCI adapter. Same results! It seems as though once Windows is fully up some software is blocking the adapter. I have uninstalled the firewall I downloaded 3 or 4 mounths ago that did not help. I have one other computer on the LAN, It works great I can renew my lease in seconds, connect to the internet and everything works the same as it always has!! I have changed the cable and connected straight tho the DSL modem I get the same results everytime. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT THANK YOU jee |

It appears something got damaged in the process. Since you have tried a new adapter and drivers, my guess is it's the Windows configuration.
You need to give some details, like what version/patch level of Windows you're running.

You wouldn't normally expect two bad cards, that comes from left field. Glad you figured it out.

127.0.0.1 is an address reserved for the loop back test. when you ping this address you should get a reply. This is because packets sent to this address go down the stack to layer 2 and right back up.
This is to test the NIC card for response and TCP if bounded and working on card. |
