connected but no packets sent or received??

hey everybody got abit of problem here would appreciate any help that i can get..
basically i am using a linksys BEFW11S4 router at home.. my com is connected directly to the router by a cable and another com and a laptop are connected onto the wireless network. the weird thing that happened is that the internet stopped working on my com (the one directly connected) while the two connected wirelessly still works. my internet was working fine when i left the house (i left 2 torrent downloads on) but wheni came back i found that i was not able to get online anymore. suddenly windows firewall had been switched on (no one touched my com when i left) and i was not receiving or sending any packets anymore. under network connection i am still connected to the network but there is no data sent or received. i tried reseting both router and modem but it still wouldnt worked. i changed from static ip to automatic ip but it appears that the com cannot aquire ip. several times when i wanted to change my ip settings windows suddenly hanged and i was force to restart my com.
using my bro's laptop now getting really desperate now... what could be wrong? it shouldnt be a connection problem as i am sitll "connected" to the network right? could it be a windows problem? would appreciate anyhelp that i can get.. thanks in advance

P2P is infamous for causing these kinds of issues. In addition, we don't support P2P applications, or the problems created by them. From our rules.

P2P Instructions: The main purpose of P2P is to illegally obtain and provide copyrighted material. For this reason Tech Support Forum does not support P2P software. This includes Bearshare, Kazaa and many others.

My advice is to start by uninstalling the P2P software and start buying your software and music.

Could you please give some ideas like how to prevent user from installing or runing P2P? We have some users have administrative privelige to their local computers.

It's easy to prevent them from running it, just block the ports they need on your gateway or proxy server. In addition, you can probably restrict their options with group policies if this is a domain configuration.

A final option is to fire their butts if they don't understand that the company's computers are not for personal file sharing.
