I think you confuse us with a chatroom, many of us have real jobs that we have to do before coming here.
![]() Since you have a router and the W98 machine has an Ethernet card, this should be easy. Install the drivers for the Ethernet card, make sure it appears without error in Device Manager. Configure the TCP/IP to automatically obtain an IP and DNS addresses. I think that "may" be the default for W98, but it's been awhile. Reboot the W98 machine, and you should be connected.

It appears you have the Ethernet card installed, so you need to go to network properties and then the properties of TCP/IP. Set it to obtain all it's configuration information automatically.

Go to the network control panel. Right click on the ethernet adapter and choose properties. Now double click on tcp/ip. Set everything to obtain automatically.
Now run winipcfg again and see if you have a gateway. It should read 192.168.0.1

Did you check in Device Manager to see if the NIC has any errors associated with it? If you haven't installed the drivers, and it needs them, clearly it won't work.

There you go, and you learned something in the process.
Thanks for the feedback.
