We are going to need some more info to help you with this.
Type of internet. Brand/model of router and network card.
What do you see if you go to start, run and type command and enter? Now type ipconfig and enter. We need to know ip address, subnet, gateway and dns.

Not to be obnoxious, but you might get a lot more help in the networking section, since the problem doesn't seem to be with the laptop (since it's brand new).

What exactly is the problem, only that you can't ping the machine from local machines?

The problem is: I Can't get on the Internet.

a little background on Myself, I'm a ' Telephone ' Guy.

Still learning IP...But, I do have a network that I've built myself
and works pretty good.

New Dell Inspiron600m I can't for the life of me figure out

WHY it won't work....

What Ever Info You need, just let me know.

TIA

I'm totally confused, since the address you have there is not what would be supplied by a Linksys router. Did you configure the new computer to automatically obtain an IP and DNS address?

I changed the settings in my router about 1 year ago, I used to use VPN to the place I used to work at, I was having trouble connecting to their server and changed MY settings per the ' IT ' guy. It did the job then. After I quit working there, I wasn't having any problems with any of the other 6 computers I have on my network, so, I just left it alone. Do You think, that might be where the problem is?

I was going to try and hook this new machine directly to the DSL modem and see if it works .....

Brand new computer. You get one year support from Dell. But I doubt they can help. Their support is useless.

Could you post the results of ipconfig /all from one of your machines that does work and one that doesn't.

Can you ping other computers on your network. Can they ping the computer that doesn't work. Try disabling any firewalls running on your computer as well.

Fixed!!

Ok, Thanks to all the replies

I must have somehow changed something in the startup config
of the computer, I went in and let it do a NORMAL startup and
on the First try, got connected on the
Internet

As far as Pinging, there is still a problem with that, If You look at my very First post, it used to work, I've made so many changes in the past 48 hours
it dosen't work anymore, I can't see it on My network eighter..

At This point, I almost Don't care about seeing it.

The computer will be ' leaving in a month ' (to school)

Anyway,

Thanks to All
