Alright, so I get home, power up the computer and try to get out to the internet. Doesn't work. Okay, I deal with this all the time at work. So, I unplug the power cable to the router, wait a few moments, then plug it back in. All seems normal, but I still can't connect. I do the same thing again, but this time I also unplug the power cable to my cable modem (also a Linksys product). Still nothing. I put my computer straight into the modem, reset the IP address, and then I get internet. Now, I look at my router and it has only 2 lights on: the Active light, and the DIAG light (which is usually bad). When I plug in my computer to the router now, my computer acknowledges nothing at the other end (basically showing "Network cable unplugged") and the router itself flashes the 3 lights for that port that I have the network cable plugged into. I don't know what to make of it! I tried to reset the router and plug in the computer... No luck. What do you guys/gals think about this? Is my router dead? Is there no hope of recover?
Thanks |

try pinging to it... ping 192.168.1.1 is the router address... if you get a posative response, try connecting to it via a browser, the default password is admin... tell if you need more...

I'd hold the reset long enough to reset it to factory defaults, just so see if it choked on it's configuration. I'm betting along with the other folks that it's DOA, but it can't hurt to try this.
