no longer able to connect to other wireless signal
I have cable internet (3mb/s). I got it couple weeks ago and it has been working mostly ok. I am using linksys wireless router and d-link wireless adapter on this computer.
But I live right next door to friends/family that have a dsl connection which I was able to connect to before I got my own cable. And I would like the option to connect to the dsl if/when I have cable connection problems. (which the cable company has had some problems lately and sometimes it takes them couple days to fix) So long story short, I cannot connect to the dsl anymore as soon as I connected to the new cable connection. when my brother and i got the cable he had to set up WPA encryption instead of WEP. I have Win XP pro and wasn't able toget the WPA to work with windows software, so instead i used the d-link wireless utility to be able to do that. Now I cannot seem to connect to the dsl from windows or from the d-link utility no matter what i do. any help would be appreciated. thnx r.winters |

If your friend next door, who is sharing this DSL with you, has his router wide open then you prolly just need to disable the WPA on your card to be able to see his connection again.
Please let us know if this helps or if you need any further assistance. |
