Problem with connection dropping at regular intervals

Hi all,

I'm visiting my mother and offered to set up her laptop to connect wirelessly to her existing internet connection. She has SBC dsl service and uses a HomePortal 1000HG modem/single point router. Her laptop has a Broadcom wireless-b pci adapter. I was able to connect the laptop without much trouble, but the connection drops almost EXACTLY every three minutes. The very moment it drops, I get the alert that there are wireless connections available and I have to manually reconnect. It always connects immediately, works fine for about three minutes, and then drops again. What could be causing this? Thanks in advance for any help.

If you're using your adapter card's wireless configuration utility, turn off the Windows Zero Configuration, they're fighting it out.
