trouble with DSL cord

hey, i need to plug in my dsl cable from my Dell 4500 to my laptop, but the cord thats plugged into the dell doesnt want to budge, i dont want to tug on it because i dont want to break it, the modem is an Alcatel Speed Touch Home (and stock cord i assume) and the side plugged into the modem has one of those plastic things that you push down and it clicks in, but the side plugged into the computer doesnt, and wont come out, an solution would be much appreciated

Many times the socket or connector are not sized correctly, and they will simply jam in the socket. While making sure that the latch is dis-engaged, wiggle the connector back and forth and pull, it'll come out.
