Computers loosing internet connection at differnt times
Hey there,
My house mates, and I are having troubles with our internet connection at the moment. It started about five days ago, the internet would cut at different times for different computers on the same network. These disconnections happen about every 20mins nd last between 10seconds to 10minutes, these disconnections happen to differnt computers at differnt times, so two people could be surfing the net while one disconnected or vice versa. When the disconnections happen we can if we try to browse the internet it just comes up on the browser saying "Network Timeout" When we are disconnected from the internet we can still ping/receive local traffic on our network. e.g transfer files. So we came to the conclusion that it must be our router/modem dying, So we when out and got a brand new Belkin, plugged it in a put in all our settings, but its still have all the same problems as we had before, soo we replaced the line filter on our line, still the same thing. The router is showing crazy things in the log like: 11/29/2009 20:29:46 **UDP Flood Stop** (from ATM1 Inbound) 11/29/2009 20:29:45 **UDP flood** 76.204.98.157, 60063->> 192.168.1.105, 4778 (from ATM1 Inbound) 11/29/2009 21:12:56 **UDP Flood Stop** (from ATM1 Outbound) This is when my house mate was pinging google to see if his connection was up or not and 11/30/2009 11:09:22 User from 192.168.1.103 timed out We thought it could be one of our network cards NIC's was damaged and flooding the router, so we checked everyone's sent/received packets which were of normal size, we also checked everyone's open ports which again was normal. When then ran anti-virus/anti-spy ware on all our computers, which came up with nothing. Then the next step we took was to disconnect 2 out of the 3 people by unplugging them from the router, to see if it was anyone's pc that was affecting us all, the same problems happened to everyone when the other 2 computers where not plugged in. We are completely stumped, Ive been running Wireshark on our connection and I can link anyone that would like to see what happens when the connection goes down... I cant make sense of what its showing me, but maybe someone else can. Any and all help and comments would be greatly appreciated, Thank you for your time, Julznova |
