[SOLVED] Can connect to router but not the internet

Hi
I have dell laptop with windows xp sp3 op system i had to rest to factory setttings after a problem but now i cannot connect to internet although i can connect to the router (ie ping the router).

Also i have ubuntu on my laptop and i can connect to the internet with no problems, but when i switch to windows i cannot connect to the internet and when i called dell they told me its an advance software issue and its a fee only service.

Also i tried the set tcp.ip written in the forum

Hello Sini and welcome to TSF!

Do you by any chance have any Security software installed such as McAfee, how about zonealarm? Try disabling.

Hi
Thanks i just solved the proble.
I installed the windows sp3 update and for some reason the update was not complete but the computer said that i have sp3 installed so i removed the sp3 and the internet started working when i switched back to xp sp2.
