Yet another "Cannot connect to internet via router"
Well it's been over a week since my router stopped working and I've already put in more time that I'd like to admit. I've looked up on numerous boards and I still haven't been able to fix it so I figured I'd just post here.
So this is what happened. I recently moved into a new apartment and subscribed to AT&T DSL. Now I have one other roommate (we both use Vista) who I obviously share the internet with. Since the first day, I've always been randomly kicked off the wireless internet while my roommate never had this problem. Sick of having to restart the router/modem every single day, I decided that I'd reset the settings on both devices just for the hell of it. Big mistake. ![]() Now both my roommate and I cannot connect to the internet via the router(not even with an ethernet cable), but we are able to connect to the internet if it's just through the modem.... We use a Linksys160N router. Can anybody guide me through this? Any help will be appreciated! |

Re: Yet another "Cannot connect to internet via router"
The make/model of the router would be a big help here. Since your DSL modem appears to really be a modem/router, I suspect that you have a modem that is configured on the same subnet, and thus will not actually make a WAN connection.

Re: Yet another "Cannot connect to internet via router"
Actually now that I think about it I might've done all the "ipconfig /all" stuff while I was on the modem....
should i post the stuff down when I'm connected to the router? >.< |

Re: Yet another "Cannot connect to internet via router"
No, actually that's what I wanted to see, the modem.
The problem is that your "modem" is a modem/router, and your router uses the same subnet, which causes it to fail to get a WAN connection. In the Linksys configuration, change it's base address to 1i2.168.2.1, and it should work with that "modem".

That's another method.
