Issues loading web pages
Some sites keep coming up as "Internet Explorer Cannot display the webpage." Sometimes they are fine sometimes I get the message. Everything from forums to MSN (they will try to load then hang). Same issue on both wired and wireless connections.
I have tried changing channels for the wireless issue but its still there. Both computers and drivers are current on updates. Any ideas other than reseting the router? I can do this but only as a last resort as I dont really want to go back through and set it up. Thanks Last edited by sponger246; 11-06-2009 at 08:49 PM. |

Re: Issues loading web pages
When you say router do you refer to a second device other than the modem provided by your ISP?

Re: Issues loading web pages
Did you try connecting directly to the modem to see if this is a router or modem issue? If it's truly the router, try the following.
Some things you can try here, listed in the order you should try them.
Many times these measures will resolve a lot of intermittent issues. OTOH, if you experience issues with the direct modem connection, let's do this. Register at DSLReports and run their Line Quality Tests. It's best to run this test with a direct wired connection to eliminate any wireless issues from the results. It's useful many times to run this test several times, and we'd like to see each of the results. Post the results link from the top of the test display page for each test run here. The link to post is near the top of the page and looks like: If you wish to post this result to a forum, please copy/paste this URL http://www.dslreports.com/linequality/nil/2357195 <- sample only, yours will obviously be different! and your IP will be disguised. Copy/paste that link here. Note: You will have to enable PING (ICMP) request response either in your router (if you have one), or in your computer's firewall for direct modem connections. This is very important to get the most important part of the test to run. DSLReports Here's also the Line Quality Tests FAQ to help you understand the results. This will answer some questions about the line quality display.

Re: Issues loading web pages
Hmmm...I see what part of the issue could be. My network connection will go from "local and internet" to just "local." So it seems that when the pages dont come up if I check fast enough, the connection is just "local." The driver for the wifi card is up to date according to the Intel website.
I have done everything else posted. Im not sure why its droping with a good signal. |

Re: Issues loading web pages
If I do a link test through Xirrus this is what I get:
--------------------------- Link Test Result --------------------------- DNS Server at xxx.xxx.x.x is reachable via Ping (5/5, 3ms average) Gateway at xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is reachable via Ping (5/5, 3ms average) External IP at xx.xxx.xxx.xxx is not reachable via Ping |

Re: Issues loading web pages
If you're getting delays through the router like that, I'd suspect something is amiss with the router.
Did you try the list of fixes I posted for routers?

Re: Issues loading web pages
Try setting static IP addresses in the router here is your manual for reference ftp://downloads.netgear.com/files/wgr614v7_ref_manual_20apr06.pdf
