can't connect to broadband - network adapter not showing up :(

I just bought a computer off someone and they just reinstalled a fresh install of windows vista home. I can connect to dialup and wireless but not broadband! When i go to set up a broadband connection it says wireless and dial-up, then below it says show connection options that this computer is not set up to use. when i click this then broadband (pppoe) comes up. When i go to device manager and check network adaptors I can only see the wireless one. When i click view hidden devices then about 6 other devices show up. I have tried to install them and it won't work. I have gone to cmd and done ipconfig/all and got
ip routing enabled - no
wins proxy enabled - no

wireless lan adapter
media state - media disconnected
desc intel wifi link
physical address (gives address)
dhcp enabled yes
autoconfig enabled - yes

i downloaded a driver installation software, it found all the drivers i needed (although none came up for broadband) just chipset, graphics ect...downloaded them all and nothing has happened.
Also downloaded netowkr adapter from toshiba website and nothing has happened.
This laptop defo has inbuilt lan so nt sure what is going on. can anyone help me out? its a toshiba x300-12H. many thanks

Re: can't connect to broadband - network adapter not showing up :(

You need to install the Toshiba drivers.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type devmgmt.msc

Please respond to all the following steps.
  1. Under Network adapters, please tell me all the devices listed.
  2. Are there any devices under Network adapters that have a red x displayed?
  3. Also, are there any devices anywhere in the Device Manager display with yellow ? or ! displayed?
