Connection Speeds Keep Changing
Hi All,
My wireless connection speed has gone haywire in the last few days. Keeps changing from 54 mbs to 48, 36, 24 etc and goes as low as 1mbs. It never used to do this, ive always had a solid 54mbs. A few days ago i installed an ip blocker so i could surf with better privacy but it slowed my computer down so much that I immediately uninstalled it. Next day is when the problem started. Could this have something to do with it? I know the router is working well because I'm on my roommates computer now which has no problems at all. Could there be something interfering with my connection? Help pls! |

Re: Connection Speeds Keep Changing
Wireless interference is the top suspect, change the router's wireless channel.

Re: Connection Speeds Keep Changing
If you don't change the encryption, MAC filtering, etc., changing the channel should automatically be accommodated when the workstation connects.
You will need to connect with a wired connection to the router to alter it's settings. Check the router's user manual, usually changing the channel is very simple, but I don't know what router you have.
