First of all, this is my home, so I have access to everything. All 4 computers and the game systems are mine ;)
When you said changing the channel on the router...I don't understand. I have a modem/router combined (through Time Warner/Road Runner). I have never seen a channel to choose...
I don't get a message, the little stair-steps that are usually green if I am connect...they turn grey and a red X is over them. When I hover over the icon it just says Status: Not Connected

I am not sure where to find the configuration.

We have the modem/router in one room with a desktop connected straight to it and everything else is wireless--the other 3 computers and the gaming systems. Everything has always worked fine but suddenly about a month ago one computer started acting up.
I will also add that after I wrote this, I finally got Avast on that computer (symantec came with it and was giving me problems with uninstalling) it did find a worm which appeared to fix quite a few other odd occurrences that were going on on that computer, but I still lose internet frequently. I have also noticed that sometimes it will still say connected when you hover the mouse over the wireless icon at the bottom, but it will not get internet. I will go to "View Available Wireless Networks" and will have to manually click connect.
I homeschool my children and they use the computers and it is annoying when they are right in the middle of a lesson and it abruptly shuts down.
