Netgear wireless-G-2nd computr 10mps slower
just installed Netgear wireless router WGR614 on primary computer w/ Netgear wireless adapter (usb) WG111 on my secondary computer. installation went smooth, however the secondary computer's download speed is 10mps slower than the primary computer. primary computer speedtests at 26mps on average with the secondary computer testing at 16mps. is this normal for this type of gear/install? any suggestions? the computers are in different rooms right next to eachother approx 20' > 30' apart.
i would appreciate any insight you may have. |

Re: Netgear wireless-G-2nd computr 10mps slower
For a test, try wiring the secondary computer directly to the router and see if you get full speed, or it's still limited. You may be expecting too much from the wireless connection, though I can get 20mbit connections with my laptops to my 20mbit Verizon FiOS service.

Re: Netgear wireless-G-2nd computr 10mps slower
thanks... it may well be my gear. secondary computer has W7 and it tells me i'm getting 80% signal from primary computer router. but according to speedtest.net it works out to around 60%>65%. for my use i can live with that for now.
