Hi! This is my first post but I'm glad I seem to have found a community that could help!
What I am experiancing is a bit of a weird problem, atleast I think it is, so I'll explain. For the past few months or so I have been 'Sharing' my Wireless connection. My Xbox 360 has been connected to my laptop via Ethernet and accessing the Internet via the shared Wireless. Just recently we got a new router through and plugged it in, the Xbox could no longer detected the internet connection. Thinking it a mere firewall problem I left it till later but now when I come to plug it in something strange happens. When my Local Area Connection (Marvell Yukon 88E8055 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller) is 'Enabled' I can no longer use browsers. None of the browsers I try, Firefox, Explorer, etc, can find my internet connection. However, during this, Windows Live Messenger still functions normally. When I 'disable' my LAC, the problems stop and my browser works again (which is why I can type to you guys here!). I've tried updating the driver for the Ethernet, I've tried disabling my Windows firewall, but, not being all that techsavvy myself, I am at a loss of what else to try. Any help anyone could provide would be fantastic! |

Re: LAC Stealing my Browser?
Please post this for the laptop.
Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt: In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following command: Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command. IPCONFIG /ALL Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter to copy the contents to the clipboard. Paste the results in a message here. If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Re: LAC Stealing my Browser?
Well, I see that DHCP is disabled on the wired connection. I'm also not sure how the XBOX ever connected through to the Internet, you don't have bridging or ICS enabled.
Why not connect the XBOX directly to the router?

Re: LAC Stealing my Browser?
A simple issue of distance, the router is downstairs and I am upstairs. But what's really bothering me is just my laptop not working how it should! I don't want it to disconnect when I turn on my LAC.
Computers just bother me like that haha, I'll be bothered till its fixed. |
