Current Internet issues

Well, to start from the front. I used to work for cox cable, which is my ISP. I was a field tech so all the lines ran in my house are good as i just recently ran them before a quit.

As of daylight savings time I have been having the ODDEST issues with my internet. The two main things (one which bugs my fiance) is i cannot get any pictures to load in facebook nor can i get to www.bestbuy.com. And now i can't seem to get to www.fileplanet.com. To myself i though , hmm must be her laptop. I tried all those on my desktop still could not get to any of the sites, tried it on my own laptop still got the same issue, 3 differnt pcs. All 3 have different OSs too (xp, vista, 7). So i immediately blame my router, i reset my router, try it again same issue. So i bypass the router directly into my cable modem.. SAME ISSUE!!. I figured it must be bad signal to my modem, so i try my modem on a different outlet upstairs(while still bypassing the router)....still the same issue (on two different laptops).

So i'm thinking ***, so I call cox. I talk to them for a bit they say my modem levels are fine (forward and return signal) which i assumed they would be, so I swear to myself it has to be the modem, thank god i have another good modem. I call in and switch the modems out....STILL THE SAME FREAKING ISSUE WITH OR WITHOUT THE ROUTER ON ALL 3 PC's. So now i'm getting ****ed. I'm not really sure if I can blame cox because my signal is fine, i've tried two diff modems still have the same issue.

Questions:
*Could my router have caused the issue and changed something across my network (changing something on all my pc's to cause this) because when DST ended my router was set to PACIFIC time and i'm in central time.
I've seen issues if your PCs time is out of sync with server time it'll cause certificate issues and cause webpages to act odd.

*Could this be a virus/malware (that my antivirus' didn't pick up that spread like herpes on my network?)

The only thing i have not done yet is taken my laptop(s) down the street and picked up the free wifi and see if i can get to those sites from there or if stuff loads fine, will try that tonight. I also plan to hook my modem up directly off the mainline drop to see if i still get the issue JUST in case i need to blame cox..

I wanted to add here is my ping of www.bestbuy.com and a tracert of google.com

Re: Current Internet issues

If multiple machines are doing the same thing connected directly to the modem, this is almost certainly an ISP issue within their network. I'd suspect some routing issues, which is something I used to see with Comcast pretty regularly.

I'd have a friend bring a laptop that is known to work properly and connect it directly to your modem. That will lay to rest whether it's your issue or the ISP.
