Problem Regarding Internet Connection
Hello guys, I'm new here and I'm kinda desperate. It seems that one of my computers can't connect to the computer while others can. It seems that I can't open the status of the Local Area Connection, but I could edit its properties. I can't seem to access 192.168.1.1 on the browser. It just keeps saying it's waiting but after a few minutes, says it can't display. Nothing is wrong with the device manager. I tried pinging websites says connection to the host can't be found or something, and since i searched before and i sort of found a thread regarding what i thought to be the same problem says i should ping 216.109.112.135, i pinged it, but it always says it times out. So er, what's the problem? How do I fix this?
Regards, ~King Wilfred. |

Re: Problem Regarding Internet Connection
Please supply the following info, exact make and models of the equipment please.
Name of your ISP (Internet Service Provider). Make and exact model of the broadband modem. Make and exact model and hardware version of the router (if a separate unit). Make and exact model and hardware version of any other network equipment, like a repeater, a booster, hi-gain antenna, etc. Model numbers can usually be obtained from the label on the device. Connection type, wired or wireless. If wireless, encryption used, (none, WEP, WPA, or WPA2) Version and patch level of Windows on all affected machines, i.e. XP (Home or Pro), SP1-SP2-SP3, Vista (Home, Business, Ultimate), etc. The Internet Browser in use, IE, Firefox, Opera, etc. Please give an exact description of your problem symptoms, including the exact text of any error messages.
On any affected computer, I'd also like to see this: Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD (COMMAND for W98/WME) to open a command prompt: Type the following commands on separate lines, following each one with the Enter key: PING 74.125.45.100 PING yahoo.com NBTSTAT -n IPCONFIG /ALL Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter. Paste the results in a message here. If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Thanks for the reply,
ISP name is PLDT myDSL I dunno the modem model number where can i see this? i can't find the box. Router is Linksys BEFSR41 There is a hub though name and model is Surecom EP-808SX-C. The situation is, there's 3 computer, 2 computers directly connected to the router and another computer is connected to the router with a hub. My connection is Wired. Version and Patch should be Windows XP Pro SP3 And since I just reformatted it (Thinking it's a software problem), The only browser is IE7. I did try connecting it directly to the internet, but it stops at Renewing IP Address and then after a few minutes, connection gets limited or no connectivity. The other computers in the network are fine. C:\>ping 74.125.45.100 Pinging 74.125.45.100 with 32 bytes of data: Request timed out. Request timed out. Request timed out. Request timed out. Re: Problem Regarding Internet Connection
Looks like a firewall issue, you get a DHCP address, but no traffic out.
Disable ALL firewalls and try the pings again. If that fails, boot in Safe Mode with Networking and try again.

Re: Problem Regarding Internet Connection
I disabled the firewall but it still won't work. I also tried restarting it and boot to Safe Mode with Networking, still won't work (With the firewall off).
What I find weird is that the physical address is FF-FF-FF-FF-FF-FF while the other computers have different physical address. Also, I found out when I restart, I could see something like MAC-Address FF FF FF FF FF FF then something like FFFFFFFF-FF-FF-FF-FF-FFFFFFFFFFFF PXE-E53 cannot find boot filename I'm not entirely sure, but I am trying to copy it manually since it only appears during boot (First time I've seen it). |

Re: Problem Regarding Internet Connection
Well, the MAC address is a problem, that would be a hardware or BIOS issue.

Re: Problem Regarding Internet Connection
A good start is resetting the BIOS to factory defaults.

Re: Problem Regarding Internet Connection
I guess this is pretty old, but I tried resetting it (well, setting it to the fail-safe setting cause I do not know how to reset it). But it still does not work. Now, at least when I repair the connection, it just gets stuck at renewing IP address.

Re: Problem Regarding Internet Connection
Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD then press Enter to open a command prompt:
In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following command: Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command. IPCONFIG /ALL Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter to copy the contents to the clipboard. Paste the results in a message here. If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.
