intermittenconnection problem. please help!!!

Hi everyone, Im new to this forum so im not sure what type of information im supposed to leave with my post to help with the assistance.
Anyways, i have been experiencing intermittent internet connection problems for awhile now, at least about a year. I live in Hawaii and get cable through Oceanic cable. I use a N wireless belkin router and the internet problem affects the "main" desktop computer i have and the laptops that we have.
I usto have a very shitty router so i thought that was the problems so i upgraded to this N one then i thought it had to be the modem since it wasnt the router so i called oceanic cable and got a new modem. The problem still persist. I play online poker for money and it is extra frustrating because ill be in the middle of a hand and the internet will go out and i will lose the hand automatically. its very very very very very frustrating.
I really have no idea what the problems is! if anyone can help or offer input or advice it would be much much much appreciated. If there is some type of information i need to give you to help id be glad to do so..

its weird because some days it seems like the problem is just fixed and then other days it will be really severe. there is always at least some drops and losses of connectivity though. I dont know what to do!!!!

How many devices on the network? Wireless or wired? Which ones are active when the problems appear? Are all devices dropped at the same time?

Re: intermittenconnection problem. please help!!!

Using a wired connection directly to the modem for the test, please run the following test a couple of times and post the results here.

Register at DSLReports and run their Line Quality Tests. It's best to run this test with a direct wired connection to eliminate any wireless issues from the results. It's useful many times to run this test several times, and we'd like to see each of the results. Post the results link from the top of the test display page for each test run here.

The link to post is near the top of the page and looks like:

If you wish to post this result to a forum, please copy/paste this URL
http://www.dslreports.com/linequality/nil/2357195 <- sample only, yours will obviously be different!
and your IP will be disguised.

Copy/paste that link here.

Note: You will have to enable PING (ICMP) request response either in your router (if you have one), or in your computer's firewall for direct modem connections. This is very important to get the most important part of the test to run.

DSLReports

Here's also the Line Quality Tests FAQ to help you understand the results. This will answer some questions about the line quality display.

Connect directly to the modem for the test.

Re: intermittenconnection problem. please help!!!

Well, the line quality tests look fine, so if during that period you were getting drops, I'd be thinking of a local issue.

Re: intermittenconnection problem. please help!!!

I was experiencing minor drops while those tests were running but none of the really severe ones....
So if it is a local problem what should i do? I called my service provider and they said nothing was wrong with my modem.... Hmmmmmm...

Well, I'd connect directly to the modem and see if you experience the problem that way. That will eliminate the router and/or wireless connections.

Re: intermittenconnection problem. please help!!!

I'd run the ping test when you have the problem, that way we can see the actual symptoms.

Re: intermittenconnection problem. please help!!!

And, you had serious packet loss. Time to pound on the ISP, this looks like their problem.

Re: intermittenconnection problem. please help!!!

Well, that's your choice, either get them to fix it, or consider another ISP.
