D-Link DWA-545 wireless network adapter (N broadcasting series)

well heres the thing, my after modifying some rights on Windows 7 ultimate (RC), and after restarting the computer, i couldnt access my C: drive, and of course, my network car couldnt connect as it usually did to my Bell router, the encryption key is all ok and im close to the router!

so my network card didnt want to connect right after i changed rights and restarted the computer in short.

now the access or rights or permissions problems has been fixed NUT my network card still doesnt connect to the router...

i checked in the router and my MAC address nor my IP address is blocked... but strangely i am no more in the home network, wich i think is the problem. "well now lets put me back in then and see if that fixes it!" i thought but i couldnt find anywhere to add my IP address anywhere. (although in MAC filtering the router has me in the "unblocked" section?

thank you for helping me ASAP (and i hope i dont get to reformat my drive :( )

Re: D-Link DWA-545 wireless network adapter (N broadcasting series)

Please supply the following info, exact make and models of the equipment please.

Name of your ISP (Internet Service Provider).
Make and exact model of the broadband modem.
Make and exact model and hardware version of the router (if a separate unit).
Make and exact model and hardware version of any other network equipment, like a repeater, a booster, hi-gain antenna, etc.
Model numbers can usually be obtained from the label on the device.
Connection type, wired or wireless.
If wireless, encryption used, (none, WEP, WPA, or WPA2)
Version and patch level of Windows on all affected machines, i.e. XP (Home or Pro), SP1-SP2-SP3, Vista (Home, Business, Ultimate), etc.
The Internet Browser in use, IE, Firefox, Opera, etc.

Please give an exact description of your problem symptoms, including the exact text of any error messages.

  • If you're using a wireless connection, have you tried a direct connection with a cable to see if that changes the symptoms?
  • For wireless issues, have you disabled all encryption on the router to see if you can connect that way?
  • For wireless laptops, have you made SURE the wireless switch is on?
  • For wired connection issues, have you booted in Safe Mode with Networking to see if that changes the symptoms?
  • Have you connected directly to the broadband modem to see if this is a router or modem/ISP issue?
  • If there are other computers on the same network, are they experiencing the same issue, or do they function normally?

On any affected computer, I'd also like to see this:

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD (COMMAND for W98/WME) to open a command prompt:

Type the following commands on separate lines, following each one with the Enter key:

PING 74.125.45.100

PING yahoo.com

NBTSTAT -n

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

thank you ill get back to you ASAP for the meanwhile ill give u as much info as possible of the equipment you need, so that way i can just come back and re-edit it with the full details.

ISP: Bell Sympatico

router: (to be added, will check)

wireless network adapter: D-Link DWA-545 Rangebooster "N" wireless network adapter (model number undetermined, will check)

connection type: Wireless, WEP encrypted (128bit)

OS: Windows 7 RC candidate build 7001

description of problem: before i went to mess around with rights in Windows 7 my internet was working fantastically. no problems at all. since my rights were removed from C: drive (said error messages: permission denied) and thats exactly when i couldnt access my internet. after fixing the permissions problem, it still wont connect to my router (it detects the router but doesnt connect, the encryption key wasnt changed, although i should type it in again just to make sure) then (i guess what we could call a error message...) a box poped up saying it couldnt connect to Bell899 (router) troubleshooter cant find anything else than saying "check to make sure your network settings are the same as the router's settings" or close to that. i check and oddly the MAC addres of my wireless device is AABBCCDDEEFF instead of its real one so i check on the device itself and put in the real MAC addres... still wont connect. so now i went to check if the router blocked me (from my mom's laptop) and it wasnt. i was and am still suspicious that the broadcasting channel isnt right or isnt the same as my wireless device's, but idk how to change that.

but before that ill re-edit this post to give you the full details of the equipment, details of the instructions you gave me and some screenshots to come with it of course.

Re: D-Link DWA-545 wireless network adapter (N broadcasting series)

uuuhhh... nevermind... i siced it i had to reinstall the drivers since the answers to the ping 192.168.2.11 (wireless adapter IP) was General failure

i can still submit the details you wanted if you require it tho but i doubt it would do anything... lol

If it's working, no need to post anything.
