OS: Vista home premium 64 bit
|
Hello, so today I got my new PC - installed vista 64 bit home premium ,installed some programs + av and I am now trying to access the internet. However I have a issue .
Before my new pc, my old PC was the main PC that had a wired connection to the telephone port, I use a belkin wireless router. This main PC was what the wireless network was setup on. When I connect my router to my new PC, there is no light at the back where the wire connects, indicating that its been activated like my old PC did. There is no internet connection, under network connections it is empty, I cant even see the local area connection 1 etc , and I dont know how to add a new LAC. When I go to diagnose and repair, vista says : there are driver or hardware problems with the network adapter "Realtek RTL8168/8111 Family PC1-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.0)" on this computer - I have no idea how I would go about fixing this... this computer is brand new, does this mean I need a network adaptor driver or somthing? if so where could I find this ? It just seems to me that the PC is not picking up the internet connection coming from my belkin router, I know my router is fine because my old PC works fine if I plug it up, and I know the wirless is up as my phone and laptop connect to it easily. Thank you in advanced |

Re: Network Adaptor - Driver Issue ?
Well, you are missing the driver for the network card, which is the first thing to correct. I suspect this NIC is an integrated one, which means you go to the motherboard maker and download the network driver for your model of motherboard. You might get the other drivers as well while you're there, like the chipset drivers, and perhaps the audio drivers as well...
