How exactly to DNS & DHCP servers work~?plz help me understand

Im making a model on how my internet works so it'll give me a better understanding of how others work

Okay so here is what I got ... hopefully it is correct

so when i type ipconfig/all & arp -a

i get this MAC address w/ IP address
68.2.45.1>00:1b:d5:fe:e8:da

and i looked up the mac address here

its related to Cisco so Im thinking its my ISP ( Cox ) Router~????

I thought 68.2.45.1 was my modem & gateway since my IP address is 68.2.45.7 .... but then i looked up the MAC address for 68.2.45.1 and its a Cisco device , and i dont have a router or any cisco stuff so it must be related to my ISP

is my modems ip 192.168.100.1~???? i thought it would be 68.2.45.1 but when i go to 192.168.100.1 m it takes me my modems config site

SO im confused on how this all works~!!

Re: How exactly to DNS & DHCP servers work~?plz help me understand

Thats a pretty informed link , but it didnt talk about DNS or DHCP

So when i did arp -a
i get this MAC address w/ IP address
68.2.45.1>00:1b:d5:fe:e8:da

Its related to Cisco

does that mean that it is my ISP's router~?
