[SOLVED] Need help with xbox360live MTU

Hello :)

Ok so i have my xbox connected into my router which is connected to my PC.

I recently bought a new router (Belkin N+ F5D8635-4) and when i turn on my xbox360 and run a connection test it goes;

Test Results:
Network: Connected
Internet: Connected
Xbox Live: Failed

and then it tells me to change my MTU to 1364 or above so originally i thought ok i will login to my router and change this and then i see it is already above 1364 and is 1432. I re-apply the settings anyway and restart my router and try again and it still fails. I now carried on changing the MTU to different things such as 1364 and 1500 and it still failed.

I have run out of ideas now and need help please, if you need anymore information please ask.

Thank you!

Edit: Woops i may of posted this in the wrong place also, sorry

Hi and welcome to TSF!
What is the make and model of your modem and router? The problem may be closed ports.

Re: Need help with xbox360live MTU

Now it looks like you have the ports set correctly, if the 192.168.2.4 address is the IP address of the Xbox. Is that Belkin F5D 8635-4 the only external devicce you are using for Internet?

Re: Need help with xbox360live MTU

Hello all, i solved the problem! I returned the N+ and bought a N belkin router and plugged it all in and worked first time.

Only thing i can guess is that this router isn't compatible with xbox live because of reasons i don't know (maybe the MTU won't lower itself below 1400 so this means it doesn't go down to what xbox wants) but anyway yeah so if anyone on the future is looking for answers who had the same problems with this router as me then here it is :P

Re: Need help with xbox360live MTU

That is possible that it is not compatible with Xbox.

Anyway, glad you got the problem solved, and you can mark the thread Solved by clicking the Mark this Thread as Solved option under Thread Tools at the top of the thread.
