Inspiron 1520 Netorking Problems...
I'm connected to the internet at home right now (on my inspiron). But I cant see my wireless networks. Not even the one I'm on. If I hover over the little computer icon at the bottom it says I'm connected to my home wireless network (it's called Yeah Baby, haha). But if I double click it and click View Wireless Networks it's not there. It says:
"Windows cannot configure this wireless connection. If you have enabled another program to manage this wireless connection, use that software." So... It's obvious I have another "program" to manage my connections... But I have absolutely no idea what it is or how to find out. Do you guys have any ideas? I'm kind of desperate. Right now I'm only able to connect at home because that's the only network my computer is set up for. If I go to my boyfriend's house I cant even put in a network key anywhere to get his internet because my computer cant find the network. It's SO frustrating. |

Does Bluetooth have anything to do with it? I noticed that my bluetooth wont turn on. I have been in BIOS and made sure everything is enabled but it still wont work.

Re: Inspiron 1520 Netorking Problems...
Hello carmidy,
Let me start off with the latest post about the bluetooth, Usually all the manufacturers give you thee connectivity service such as bluetooth,IR ,etc. They want you to enable it or turn it on before you use the service as these services use some amount of power, they recommend you to turn it on only when you use. There should be some way to turn it on, read the instruction manual or call the customer care for some help. Now coming to the wireless service I have seen that the DELL systems comes with their own customized wireless agents to manage connections apart from what windows provides. The service should be present in the system tray, i.e the same place you ran your mouse pointer to check the network is connected. Do the following to check what service is running your wireless agent. Go to Task Manager 1. Ctrl+Alt+Del 2. go to Processes Tab 3. Look for services with wireless agent or dell, to make sure verify it with the Description tab. 4. Once you know the name of the service. 5. You can always look in the Start>All programs> and so on.... I personally feel that the service provided by windows is good enough to use the wireless, where the application provided by dell makes it complicated to use. Check these and post back your results if this solved the problem. |

The Dell wireless program should also be listed in ALL Programs
Start>All Programs>Dell wireless>Dell wireless Wlan Utility Click on Dell wireless Wlan Utility and uncheck allow this utility to manage your wireless connection. This will allow you to use Windows wireless zero program. Bill |

Oh. My. God. Thank you so much BCCOMP. I feel so freaking stupid. I'll try that later today once I'm at my boyfriend's house.
I can't even tell you how dumb I feel right now. |
