Wifi to my house
hello all!!
anyway i have a neighbor a 1/4 mile away that has dsl and wifi and i can see a shed near there house from my house(line of sight) I DO HAVE PERMISSION TO DO THIS. So i am planning on buying a super pass 1 mile wifi antenna to pick up on their signal. my only problem is the line of sight is about 100 ft from my house and the superpass wifi antenna connects via usb. How so i get the signal to my house?? I was thinking of a server configured for ICS that will bridge the usb connection to Ethernet then run it up to my house. ANY IDEAS? AND NO I CANNOT GET DSL WHERE I LIVE.SO DONT ASK! |

Re: Wifi to my house
I'm unclear where the 1/4 mile comes in to play here > 100' from the ant. to the house, 10-30' from the router to the shed? for that distance the super pass antenna would not be needed, just run the Cat 5 the extra 30' and eliminate the ics server.

Re: Wifi to my house
My neighbors house is 1/4 of a mile away from mine. Then i am planning to have the super pass antenna in line of site near my house (100 feet away from MY house). The shed i can see is on their property 1/4 of a mile away.
Does this make any sense? |

Re: Wifi to my house
Ok so the shed really has nothing to do with the router or antenna just a visual reference.
It may work it's an awful long distance and will greatly depend on the signal from the router a newer draft N or 802.11n router would probably offer the best chance of success. |

Re: Wifi to my house
Also if i drive near his house i can get the signal. (approx. 100 ft) and there is a garage in the way. So i am fairly confident this will work, also i was planning on getting one of the most expensive of the antenna's. If you think that will not work what are my alternatives?
