Works on one system not the other
Hello, i am helping a friend with thier network. They have a cable running directly from the DSL router to the PC. They have two systems a laptop and a desktop. And when I plug the cable into the laptop it works fine, but when I plug the cable into the desktop it reconises the cable but does not recieve an IP address it just says "Limited or No Connectivity".
The laptop that does work is a Dell Inspiron 1100 running Windows XP Home w/ Service Pack 3. The desktop is a Dell PowerEdge 400SC running a fresh install of Windows XP Pro. Both systems are using the integrated Network adapters. I have tryed everything that I can think of and am just at a dead end. So any help you can offer would be greatly appriciated, Thank You. |

Quote:
try and go to device manager, disable and re-enable the nic. If that fails uninstall your nic driver, by right clicking the nic driver, uninstall, then go to actions and scan for hardware changes, and it should auto detect the nic |
