Laptop connects to wired LAN, but no internet?
My laptop can make a wired ethernet connection, but once it does, I can't connect to the internet. Also, the taskbar icon (for LAN connections, showing two computers) shows only one blinking computer, the other one is "dark". My firewall (Comodo) only shows a green arrow indicating traffic up, but no arrow showing traffic down.
I've turned off all firewalls, tried different cables and different networks, but my laptop still shows the same symptoms. Wi-fi and dialup connections work fine, and the NIC (Realtek RTL8139/810x Family) is reported as working in device manager. The physical lights on the ethernet port light up when a cable is connected. I've had this problem before, and gently scrubbing the ethernet port connectors with a pencil eraser used to work, but it doesn't anymore. Thanks in advance for any help! Quote:
