Female USB A to Male Ethernet adapter

Hello

I am currently setting up a new wired network at home and I have an idea to use a Female USB A to Male Ethernet adapter to plug an external hard drive into the switch so it is available all the time. The external hard drive has its own power source but im wondering it it will be recognised in the computers etc.

Thanks

Re: Female USB A to Male Ethernet adapter

you have got to be kidding havent you? How is that going to work?
You have more chance of it working if you dont plug it into anything. dont even plug the power in. Then divine intervention might let the computers see it.

Well it has more chance than a female usb to a male ethernet....!!!! into a switch ...!!!

Re: Female USB A to Male Ethernet adapter

you need a hard drive with a network card attached eg a NAS box (networked attached storage)....... a hard drive with an ethernet port.
otherwise u will just have to plug it into a pc and share it out if it only has usb.
