I am having the exact same issue. Here is the info from device manager:
Location: PCI Slot 7 (PCI bus 5, device 0, function 0)
PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4315&SUBSYS_E003105B&REV_01\4&11E8A9CE&0&0028

Sorry,

Yes it is an Acer Extensa 4420 and it has Win XP SP3 installed. I tried the driver you recommended from softpedia and it appeared to install fine, but the Device Manager shows that the Network Controllr is still missing a driver and wireless does not function. I saw there is an older thread titled [SOLVED] Acer Extensa Network Adapter Driver
that dealt with this very same issue. I tried installing the driver you recommended in that thread as well. This time the Setup program stated it could not find compatible hardware and exited. Do you have any other follow up steps we can try?

Extract the driver to a folder
Manually install the driver through the Device Manager

Go to the Device Manager
Right ckick on the error>Update
Select: No, not this time
Select: Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)
Select: Include this location in the search
Select Browse and browse to the folder you extracted the driver to.
XP should install the driver.
