emails: MTA MDA agent

can an MDA agent be and MTA agent also?

I don't think so, MTA is for transfer between computers and MDA is for managing those sent e-mails.

Could be mistaken though..

MTAs generally mean the parts that do the routing and actual transferring of mail. An email comes in and does not need to go further. Now the MTA gives it to the Mail Delivery Agent, and the MDA puts it in an incoming mailbox.
