One of my two computers has decided not to talk to the outside. I have an Asus m2n-sli deluxe mother board with XP Pro that was doing great until now, It has 2 lan ports, both have stopped working so I added an Intel pro 1000 gt nic(this board was working in another computer when moved it) to try and bypass the onboard lan. It has the same problem. Windows says all three ports are transmitting but not receiving, I've changed the cables, router and even connected directly to the modem with no luck, the other computer on my network is ok which is what I'm using right now, so I don't think it's hardware. Anyone had this problem before or have any ideas? Any help would be great.

Re: network interface problems
A couple of things. Have you looked at Device Manager to see if you have a yellow exclamantion point on the network adapters? Do an ipconfig /all and post the results back here.

Re: network interface problems
All the network adapters show to be working, lan1, lan2 the on board ports and the Intel Pro, although I've disabled lan2 because there is no cable attached.
When I tell windows to repair the connection is says that the network did not assign a network address to the computer. In the activity section says it sent 128 packets received 0 ipgconfig: (lan1) connection-specific DNS Suffix.. : Autoconfiguration IP Address. . :169.254.65.247 Subnet Mask............................:255.255.0.0 Default Gateway.......................: (intel) connection_specific DNS suffix....: Autoconnection IP Address.........:169.254.196.58 Subnet Mask............................:255.255.0.0 Default Gateway.......................: Thanks in advance Larry |
