[WOL] Dell Dimension E521

Hi,

i've installed Ubuntu 9.04 Server Edition on my old Desktop (Dell Dimension E521) to use it as a Dataserver in my Lan. I added a script into my bootsequence at Runlevel 2 which sets the WOL entry of my NIC every boot to "g" (Wake on MagicPacket(tm)) which is the only supported method of my Network interface.

Code:
ethtools -s eth0 wol g
the eth0 settings proof that WOL is enabled:
Code:
Settings for eth0:

        Supported link modes: 10baseT/Half 10baseT/Full

        Wake-on: g

everything seems to work great, the Network card's led is glowing even if the computer is turned off.

But the computer doesn't react on any MagicPacket i send (from my pc or router), the Router's LAN port led is blinking if i send the packet so it reaches the LAN card but its not reacting.

I have already looked in my BIOS for a Wake on Lan option, the only thing i found tells me that if i activate that special energy saving mode my NIC won't be able to Wake on Lan anymore so it seems that my PC is able to...

can you help me with that problem?

kind regards
Philipp
