Draytek Vigor 2800 rooter change MTU to 1400

Hi guys my problem is about MSN error 80048820 - i shaw several people saying this is because of MTU size that needs to be set to 1400.

Here is where the problems begin, i can log to my rooter, but ther is no interface to change MTU via browser.

In draytek forums they say to telnet to my wont rooter, i don't know alot of computers but i did it telnet 192.168.1.1 but my rooter as a port and a user and a password

If i do telnet 192.168.1.1 it gives me:

Connecting To 192.168.1.1...Could not open connection to the host, on port 23: Connect failed

If i do telnet 192.168.1.1 "myport" it gives me:

My screen becomes all black

Now my questions:

1º I'm i doing right the telnet ?
2º Shouldn't I get a request to introduce user and password to acess router after the telnet IP PORT ?
3º When i finnaly get in and i hope you can help with that, what is the command to change MTU size?

Thanks for your time, any reply is welcome.

Re: Draytek Vigor 2800 rooter change MTU to 1400

Changing the MTU will not fix your problem. It WILL cause your Internet connection to run slower. Please consider looking at the steps outlined here on the actual MSN Messenger site.

Link # 1 - MSN Messenger Error: 80048820

Link #2 - Other MSN Messenger Errors

If you are determined to try, you need to look at your default gateway address, and point your web browser to that IP address.

On a Draytek Vigor 2800 it also has the ability in the firewall to block instant messaging programs, make sure you don't have that turned on.
