Keep losing network connection
The computers in my lab just recently starting randomly losing connection to the network server. For example, I'll be able to log in to the network, but as soon as I'm logged in, I'll see the icon saying not connected to the network. I am, however, still able to access the Internet when disconnected. Any suggestions? The server is Windows 2003 Server, and the computers are using XP Pro, SP3. Thanks!

Re: Keep losing network connection
Wow, so many things. Loose or bad cable, failing switch or switch port, duplex mismatch on server or PC nic, spanning-tree loops, broadcast storms, a flapping route, duplicate IP address. Seems like a weird combination being able to access the internet while unable to access the server, unless you are not using the server as your DNS server? When the pop-up icon says Limited Connectivity, it means some service it's using is unavailable. When it says Disconnected, it means just that. There was a physical break in the connection. The Internet may just be less sensitive than AD to these brief interruptions.
