Linksys wireless WRT150n problem
Hello everyone!
Here is my situation. I can access every website I wish to surf when I am directly plugged into the internet. My network consists of 2 individuals that access my network via laptops with built in wireless cards. So directly plugging my computer into the internet is a no go. ![]() My linksys router has decided to start filtering a website that I really need access to. I can sort of access this website via a proxy surfing websites, but only to avail with occasional failures and slowness. This is the list of what i tried: 1. resetting 2. powercycling 3. firmware upgrading 4. adjusting the MTU 5. entering in my IP into the DMZ 6. disable all firewalls which includes the router and desktop firewalls 7. port trigging https with 443 This is my firmware version Firmware Version: v1.01.9 My model of this wrt 150n is v1.1 I am trying to access this website Http://rscangel.org via being connected to my router from the cable modem being plugged into the router. If anyone had a similar experience or has a solution, that would be terrific!

Re: Linksys wireless WRT150n
First:
Are you unable to access the website from either one of the two computers on your network? Are you able to access the website when you're directly connected to the modem? If the answer to these is yes, check if there's a newer version of your firmware at the Linksys site and try installing it if there is. This will overwrite the firmware that is currently on the router (and seems to be bugging out even though you reset it to factory defaults). Hopefully it's just a firmware problem and installing a fresh copy of it will resolve the issue. |

Re: Linksys wireless WRT150n
Reset the router to factory default settings.
Note: This will reset everything you have set in the router, including network keys (WEP, WPA etc.), time, filters etc, and restore the router completely to default settings. Take a paper clip, and push it in the reset button for 10-15 seconds. Then restart the computer and configure settings in the router. Also, keep in mind, you should never do a firmware upgrade over a wireless connection.

Re: Linksys wireless WRT150n
Do you see a page in the router where it logs/monitors traffic and displays if packets are being dropped? If so, try to access the website and then look in the router to see if it displayed packets being dropped.

Re: Linksys wireless WRT150n
So it looks like about halfway tracing a route works. Does pinging work?

Re: Linksys wireless WRT150n
Perhaps the router is going bad. Disabling all the firewalls in the router and resetting it to factory default settings should have worked, but it isn't working.

Re: Linksys wireless WRT150n
This is beginning to look suspiciously like a DNS issue.
Before you chunk the router, try this on your computer: https://www.opendns.com/start/computer/. Just select your operating system and you will be guided through changing your computer's DNS server (which is currently provided by your router and is your ISP's DNS servers) to the OpenDNS server. If you still can't access the website with your DNS settings changed, I'd say chunk the router. But it's worth a shot making sure that your issues aren't all being caused by an error in your ISP's DNS resolution, because if you chunk your router and get another one the issues will continue. |

Re: Linksys wireless WRT150n
Oh, BTW, if you find that it IS being caused by your ISP, give them a call and explain what happened and what you did to resolve it so they know it is a DNS issue on their end. That way the problem can get reported and resolved.

Re: Linksys wireless WRT150n
No, on the link I sent you you don't need to sign up or add your network on to a list. You need to click on your operating system that's in the list, then follow the on screen instructions.
This is the page you should be on after selecting your operating system: Quote:
