Trying to make RDP work more like VNC. help?

I've successfully set up an rdp connection between my iPhone and my home computer (WinXP pro). Unlike VNC it causes my home computer to go to the welcome screen and certain applications that require graphics acceleration won't work. This in unlike VNC. I like that on the rdp client I have I can reduce the screen res and colors client-side which improves performance, but I'd still like to be able to access all the applications on my computer. Basically, I want it to work more like VNC where my computer is doing all the brain work and the client is just viewing it and controlling it. Is this possible w/ rdp?
Simply, I just want to be able to have complete control over my computer remotely, but be able to increase performance as much as possible by lowering colors/screen-res etc. How can I do this?

Thanks in advance!!

I can't edit my posts it seems. If no one answers this time I'll try creating another topic with a subject that better describes my issue.

Re: Trying to make RDP work more like VNC. help?

I'm not frustrated ^_^, and Ty for your reply. However, neither of those solve my problem. I have mo problem obtaining or setting up a client server connection for rdp or vnc. I'm attempting to find something that will let me do what vnc does, but quicker. With vnc I could, for example, play a video game although that is quite impracticle and very very slow. Rdp is faster because I can adjust colors and screen res client side. Howver, to use the previous example I can NOT play a game on RDP. I'd like to find a balance. Does this make sense? Maybe what I need is something different from rdp or vnc it maybe I just need an expensive client.

Thanks again!

It's ok, I do a lot of typo's too, it's something that's not unusual.
Have you tried the Mochasoft link that I sent you? the Lite version is Free, and the other one you have to pay (try this one). Why don't you give it a try and find out if there's a trial version so that you won't be wasting your money.

Re: Trying to make RDP work more like VNC. help?

Yes, mochasoft's free version is the first one I tried before posting. All input from th computer is blocked, and it goes to the welcome screen. From that point on the iPhone takes control. Applications that require graphical acceleration from the computers gfx card won't work because, well it's sitting on the welcome screen and isn't providing it. VNC doesn't have this issue, but is very slow.

There may be no answer to my problem other than "VNC is slow, but it's your only option." that's what I'm trying to find out. Let me phrase my question this way: Is there a remote control app (forget iPhone, I just want to know if it's possible now) that will keep the computer as is normally is (displaying millions of colors and having access to all it's hardware) while transmitting visual data to the client at a lower screen res and thousands of colors? That's what I'm looking for because that is the only thing I can think of that will allow remote control of complex applications with some degree of practicality.

Thanks again.

What I can suggests you is to try different programs and see which one works for what you are looking for. Here's another one, have you tried this yet?

Goodluck!

Re: Trying to make RDP work more like VNC. help?

Aye. I've tried 4 different VNC servers. Tight VNC seems to work the best. None of the free apps I've tried achieve the level of responsiveness I need. I'm starting to think that the technology just doesn't exist on a consumer level yet. No biggie. I'll keep searching for now I'll stick with cheap and slow VNC connections.

Thanks for the help.
