help please

hi everybody, well im posting on behalf of a friend i know a little bit about computers enuff to sort anything that go's wrong with mine anyway lol but this has me stumped so, basically my friend cannot connect to the internet his router and modem is connected correctly and set up correctly the router settings are correct and the firewall is not the problem the pc says it is connected to the internet in every every way i know to check taskbar, network center and so on, but when u open the web browser it simply wont connect it either says connection timed out or the server took too long to respond like i say i can fix simply stuff but im stuck on this one so any help would be appreciated thank you in advance jon

tattoo - are you able to connect directly to the modem and obtain an internet connection?

yes briefly then it does the same thing

If you connect another laptop to his modem will it get a valid internet connection?
