We have an Epson 3000 Stylus printer with a network interface connection that I can't seem to figure out. The manual for the printer doesn't really help as it refers mostly to Win95 & NT {we are on Win98}. I can't seem to find anything useful at the Epson website either.
Have the printer working from the puter that it is hooked up to directly but I am not able to "link" it with other puters on the net like some of the other printers we have. Is this due to the network connection? Tried using a "cross-over" line from the printer to the local hub but no luck. Anyone have any ideas/suggestions? Thanks in advance, bg

Ok. You don't need a cross over cable. You need a straight through.
Have you tried reading Chapter 4 of the manual? http://files.support.epson.com/pdf/sc3k__/sc3k__u1.pdf Here's the page for the printer: http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/s...0&infoType=Doc This link might not work as there is a bunch of session junk in it. But you get the idea, you can find the docs @ Epson.com in support. Windows '95 and '98 are similar enough that you should be able to follow directions word for word for either of them to the other.

I believe this is an older printer, and if you have the optional network, it may only work if you have NETBEUI installed. I have an older Intel Print Server that I have to have NETBEUI installed to use, but then it works perfectly. Try installing NETBEUI, you may be pleasantly surprised. :D

Cyber thanks.
I will go back to the manual and try it again. Get a little perplexed when following the manual step-by-step and still it goes nowhere. This is another device that our company picked up by osmosis (see SpeedStream posting). Thanks again. John: Yes, I do have Netbeui installed. Is there some tweaking that needs to be done in the "Network Properties" area? bg

bgunn, can you do a dump of the printer config? This usually gives a clue as how to set it up - somehow, there must be a series of buttons to dump out the config on paper. Give us the relevant "network portion".
