Xbox Live really laggy while other compters using network
I have two computers and an Xbox 360 on my network. While the two computers are on youtube, my xbox live connection SUCKS. I do understand why this happens, but is there a way to fix it?
How do I ensure my Xbox gets the bandwidth I need to play Xbox Live without lag? (while other computers are using network) Extra details: Actiontec M1000 modem/router I think it supports QoS. and I think that is what I have to set up. I can get to the router controls by typing 192.168.0.1 in my browser. modem/router > switch > each pc or xbox is my configuration Playing CoD4 (if that helps, you may be able to determine for me how much bandwidth CoD4 uses, idk) Just wondering if there's a way I can get my router to play favorites :) Thanks in advance for helping. |

Re: Xbox Live really laggy while other compters using network
Son is that you?
![]() The bandwidth coming into the house is limited, with all the home routers I know of you can't set limits on individual ports, so what is happening is you using all the bandwidth or data rate you have available. What type of connection do you have IE Cable, DSL, Fios? |

Re: Xbox Live really laggy while other compters using network
It's not going to eliminate the connection to the other ports it will only more or less balance the packets and give that port priority but when you hit max band width all connections will suffer.
I have the same issue here, when the Xbox slows down so does my connection. I am currently negotiating with Jr, I thinking some lawn mowing and snow shoveling may be worth the Fios or Cable connection to him, We'll see............................ |

Re: Xbox Live really laggy while other compters using network
but shouldn't there be a way for the xbox to get all the bandwidth it needs, and have the router give what is left over to any other computers? I'm still confused as to what QoS is then. I thought that is what it is supposed to do.
