My Ping
Call anyone help/guide me to fixing my ping. I want to get back into xbox live on the 360 and I am guessing it will run bad with this high ping
![]() It isn't always like this and this is what I can't understand. I mean the speeds are the same but sometimes the ping is around 30-50. It was 40 when I checked yesterday. To add I am ~50mi whatever that means to Sydney server and ~200mi to canberra and getting similar speed results. I have had this optus internet for around 3 months before this I had a telstra plan and when I first got it the ping was this high and I hadn't checked until yesterday. Is there anyway I can get this ping down so it doesn't affect my gaming and will this affect my gaming? Thanks guys Also heres an example of low ping that I got after deleting two programs- ![]() Will deleting not needed programs help? Last edited by C-bas; 07-25-2009 at 08:32 PM. |

Re: My Ping
After deleting two programs, you achieved a lower ping, which looks as if your problem was fixed. If it isn't fixed, chances are, removing those programs didn't do anything but make it look like a coincidence.
Something could be wrong with your internet connection, you may want to contact your ISP and see if they can help, or maybe test your connection. If you think a program could be lowering your ping, try running an antivirus and spyware/malware remover, see if they pick anything up. Good luck. |

Re: My Ping
Is your connection wireless or is it physical by means of an ethernet cable?
If deleting programs is helping you out, then maybe it's some wacky virus? I've heard of a lot of cases having lag only at certain times and days, which is due to too much traffic in your local area for your ISP to handle. |

Re: My Ping
Ok thanks guys. I don't think it is a virus as I have ran it and it picked nothing up. The high ping happened when I first got the new internet around 6months ago... and now it is a bit over the place.
Last night I was getting low pings around 40 and just now I got - ![]() Which is a relief. I don't think deleting programs helped, but they needed to be deleted anyway. I hope this is the end of the high ping but we will wait and see. My major issue is that I will be looking to get back into internet gaming on Xbox 360... will this effect me hugely in anyway? Cheers |
