LAN issue and I'm in a trifle.
Greetings to everyone who decides to read this. First off, I'd like to start by saying that I have AT&T providing my internet through cable. It goes to the 2Wire modem/router that was installed. That provides my laptops with internet and all. However, I have three desktops that all need internet and they don't have wifi cards nor do I have the money to purchase them.
I did however buy the Belkin Wireless G Adapter(Wireless bridge) v.2010 and my Father gave me a ADDTRON Hub5T. (I also have a Linksys wrt54g that is not in use.) But when I plug the hub into the Wireless bridge, my XP computer gets internet, however my Linux boxes timeout every time I try to connect them to the router, either by manually setting the lan IP or it automatically trying to find it. What I find weird is that I can directly wire the Wireless Bridge to any of my computers and they can connect to the internet and yet when I use the hub OR my linksys router as a switch/hub, only one of my PC's receives internet. I tried everything I could, but nothing has worked. That is countless reboots of all my equipment and PCs, rewiring, changing wires, many different configurations, ect. None of the online guides or other forum posts worked (Probably because I couldn't find any related to my issue.) Could anyone shed some light on this? The one thing that crossed my mind was that the Wireless Bridge is only asking for one IP address from the router, and the XP computer is getting it, but even that seems implausible because if I just have a Linux box wired to the hub, and the hub to the Wireless bridge, it still can't find internet. Does Linux just not like switches and hubs? ~ Daniel |

Re: LAN issue and I'm in a trifle.
what is the model number of this "wireless bridge" . I am not sure what you mean by a wireless bridge. So I will try a shot in the dark. I think what is happening is the wireless bridge is providing 1 ip address, the hub broadcasts out all ports , so the first maching on snags the ip address. You need a router instead or device with NAT (network address translation). To test this, turn of all but one and see if you can connect to the internet..do all of them one at a time.
