Network not connecting
Hello.
I have been trying to connect a computer to an already existing office network. When I mapped the network drive, I was able to enter the user name and password and connected to the network drive with no issues, and I made sure to save the log in information and checked the box "Reconnect at log in." However, if I log out / shut down / restart the computer, I get a bubble in the lower right saying that it was unable to connect to the network drives. All I have to do from there is open My Computer, click the network drive, and log in again. However, every other office computer logs on to the network drive at start up / log in. What can I do to have this computer do the same thing? Also, we use one cable for both the network and the internet, and the internet continuously goes out as well on this same computer, but independent of the Network Connection (i.e. The internet may work when not connected to the network drive, or vice versa). |

Re: Network not connecting
What OS is on the computer? How is it different from the other computers on the network? Please post a ipconfig /all command.

Re: Network not connecting
I'm going to have to request that you excuse my ignorance. My computer experience would be classified as "above average" but far from "well-versed."
-The computer is XP -The other computers on the network have all been here since the network was set up. They are all xp. (This computer is an extra that no one had been using up until now (and therefore was not connected when the network was set up). -This is where the ignorance comes in. I have heard "ipconfig" before, but I have no idea what to provide you with here. Thanks. |

Re: Network not connecting
Open up a command prompt (Start > run > cmd)
Type the following bolded commands and post the results for each affected machine. ipconfig /all Note: To post results of commands, alternate click on the top of the command prompt > edit > select all > alternate click on the top of the command prompt > edit > copy > paste in a message here. If you are on a computer that can't connect to the internet then paste the contents in a text document and save it to a portable media like a flash drive, then use an internet capable machine to post the contents.
