Very bad internet on my laptop
Hey all it's superbboy,
I've got a major problem with my laptop. I can't get good internet on it. I got a standard networking card with 53kbps. But i only use wireless because then i need to make cables through my kitchen. But uhm so i like to play games like css but i meet de min requirements but still i lag (tried updating the drivers) i also tried putting everything on low for the game NO USE it's always going form 60~80 fps to 20 fps and i just dont get why it's going all of a sudden down to that number. Also when i join a "busy" server (like 10~20 ppl) i lag and i don't know why. Do i need to buy a usb adapter or something? Please help! Greetz, Superbboy |

Re: Very bad internet on my laptop
I think the wireless is killing it. When I try to play a game on a laptop with wireless it also lags. when I play the same game on my desktop it's fine. Try a wired connection and see if it solves the problem. Just run a wire temporarily. If it solves the problem, then you know you will have to do something more permanent.
The reason for this is the nature of wireless. When you send data on wireless, even though the theoretical max speed may be X amount, you are constantly losing data that is having to be resent because the data is broadcast everywhere around you. Plus if you have security turned on, it's even more overhead. When you use a wired connection you have much less data loss because it's a direct connection. Re: Very bad internet on my laptop
Wuzup superbboy,
Test your connection speed for the wireless and the wired connecion. Try going to www.speedtest.net and pick the test server that's closest to your location. Then, try and do the test on a wired connection and post the results for both tests. JeKyL |

Re: Very bad internet on my laptop
I found out that my downloading speed is like 15 mb/s that is really high.
But my uploading is very slow i already tried the cable thingy it's not working the LAN thingy is broke because i can't install drivers for my ethernet-controller. I tried installing drivers but it didn't work! By the way i found out whats the problem with my laptop. It's already 3 years old and the cooling fan of my CPU is full of dirt and dust and it's going very slow. I think i am going to buy a new cooler @ acer and a new LCD screen (it's full of glass cracks and stuff that got between when i send it to acer for maintenance) Well uhm still thanks for the tips guys but i am closing this one ;) But if somebody can send me the drivers for the LAN cable that would be great.
